Oy Vey!..Mr. Diego..

At my house we have a lot of coyotes and hawks that like to prey on small dogs like myself. After months and months of worrying, my Mom had the bright idea to build me a 3 1/2 feet by 3 1/2 feet box that has soil and sod in it to put in the garage so that I can use the bathroom without having to go outside and get attacked by coyotes. My mom has to replace the sod every 2 months or so, but it is very inexpensive and very nice to not have to get my feet wet or go outside in the cold or hot weather. Pretty genius idea, I think.

Well, I have been using this box for several months now and everything has been good until the other day. I went out to use the bathroom like normal and lo and behold there was a hopping thing in MY box!! I decided to check this thing out up close and it hopped away from me and made me about jump out of my skin! My mom says that it is a thing called a "grasshopper" and that I shouldn't try to eat it. It sure does look tasty though. This grasshopper thing has been hanging out in my box for the past couple of days. My mom thought that he would move on, but he is still here!

My Mawmaw took me to my box last night and then came into the house to let everyone know that she had named the grasshopper Diego. How odd. My mom thought that she should name him Jimminy or something, not Diego, but the name has stuck. I wanted to share with all my "blugger" friends my new neighbor, Mr. Diego the Grasshopper.

  1. That was a really good idea that your Mom thought up about your potty area! It's very important to keep you safe from any animals that will try to take you away.

    Diego, he's cute!

  2. Your mom is really smart, that's a great idea to have a "litter box" for you! Very practical. My boys hate to go out in the rain and very cold weather so this would be perfect for them.

Your new little friend is cute! Yeah, I probably would've gone with Jiminy too but Diego works too!
