I Hate that Car Seat Contraption...

Well on Thursday my mom had the bright idea that I needed a new dog bed (why I don't know...I already have two..she's beyond weird). She went to eat lunch with my Mawmaw (and didn't take me..how rude!) and then she went to Petsmart. She got a huge bed that was obviously made for bigger dogs. I mean I could fit two or maybe three of myself on this thing..It was that BIG!! I took to the new bed right away. It was so soft and cuddly and nice. She also got me a shirt that says "I chase tail" (because it seems I am always trying to catch that pesky thing. One day I will be victorious..hahaha). Here are some pictures of me on the new bed and my new shirt.

On Friday I went with my mom to pick up her paycheck at work. She tried out this contraption called a "Car Seat" because apparently I am a maniac in the car and she is concerned that I will cause a wreck or something (yeah..right!) Well needless to say she stuck me in that horrible thing and because I can be quite persistent, we didn't even make it out of the driveway before I was free of that horrible thing and being my usual maniac self.

We went to get her paycheck and then she brought me home because I was exhausted. I lounged around for the rest of the day. That night my mom noticed that I kept arching my back like a cat. (Side story: I have a very bad back..I have spasms quite frequently. It is something that we have to keep an eye on and learn to deal with). Later that night my mom went to pick me up to give me a kiss goodnight and I screamed..She was concerned, but she noticed that I seemed to be fine.

The next morning, Mawmaw woke me up to take me outside and once again I screamed.. At this point my mom and Mawmaw knew something was up. I kept stretching and arching my back like a cat several times. My Mawmaw thought that the new bed was making my back hurt because maybe it wasn't being as supportive of my back as it needs to be. So my mom took the bed back and the car seat contraption back to Petsmart for a refund. I was sad because I really liked the bed, but it's not worth it if it's going to keep hurting me my Mom said.

After my Mom got rid of the bed, my back seems to be doing better. She thinks that I am still a little sore, which is to be expected and has tried her best to limit my jumping up and down and playing with things to help my back. I think I am starting to feel a little better because I am acting like my normal self.

Update on Duncle Zeke: My crazy mother forgot to add in the last post that Duncle Zeke is an 8-year-old pureblooded Boxer. (DUH..mom) Anyways, Duncle Zeke is doing very well. His incision sites aren't red or raised up anymore and he seems to be acting like his normal self. I have been terrorizing him (I am very good at that). Everything seems to be back to normal.

  1. I almost named my big chihuahua Avery but he shivered when I picked him up and he shivered all the way home so I decided to call him Shiver instead.

That's a cute bed, too bad it didn't work out for your back. It's probably best that your mom returned it.

Thanks for the update on Duncle Zeke. I'd been wondering how he was faring.

  3. Avery, we loved your new bed and you are such a cutie patootie in that shirt! Too bad the bed had to go back, but you do need something that will help your back, right?

And we are also glad to hear the Duncle Zeke is doing great!
